The Path to Greatness
It would seem much easier to be known for your greatness in the way the world thinks about greatness than it is in the way God sees greatness.
There’s always been a big part of me that has wanted everyone to see how great I am according to all the “great” things I have done, the talents I have, the lack of anything bad in me. But this desire causes me to put myself before others. To make myself look good at their expense. To cover and hide my flaws, failures, and sins. To blame others for my wrongs.
To be great in Gods eyes is pretty much the exact opposite. To great in his eyes is to be humble. To go low. To admit every time I’m wrong. To put others first. To make them look good at my expense. To take responsibility for their well being.
Is this what I ought to do to be a good Christian and appease God? No. That would be going back to using the world’s version of greatness and hoping to “show it off” before God.
No, this is the free life! Free from constantly obsessing over myself. Free from always being needy and self-focused. Free to give and to love because I have too much. Free to live in such abundance that it makes no sense to worry or fret.
It really makes me rethink which path to greatness is easier.
